Issues with Big Content Search support emails

It has just come to our attention that our mailboxes have not been forwarding emails to our ticketing system. While this would usually be a very obvious error, a few email somehow got through and so we thought it was just a decline in support requests.

Unfortunately, this was not so. A lot of emails stayed in our mailbox and never got to our ticketing system. This is something that should have not happened.

We’re now replying to everyone who emailed us in the last few days and hasn’t got a reply. If you’re one of them and still didn’t get a reply, don’t hesitate to contact us again.

I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been affected by this.

Update: We’ve replied to all missed emails. We’ve processed requested cancellations and refunded payments if they were a consequence of us not cancelling it on the first email.

If you still haven’t received a reply to your email, contact us again. In 99% of the time we respond in (a lot) less than 24 hours.

WP Postly released – we need your feedback!

We’ve just sent access to first members to test out WP Postly. We’ve done extensive testing on our own but we also need your feedback to really polish the plugin.

WP Postly Logo

The plugin sources content from other APIs, so if any issues arise they’re usually due to problems with Big Content Search, Big Media Scraper or Spin Rewriter. Below are the issues we found with our testing.

Issues with Big Content Search content:

  • some articles include word count at the end of the article
  • some articles have a broken title (and continue in text body)

The solutions to these are manual. In both cases, you need to manually remove/correct the post but then also contact us so we can fix the article in our database so it doesn’t happen again.

Issues with Big Media Scraper enriching:

  • Flickr’s API returns irrelevant photos on some keywords
  • whole paragraphs are marked as Headings

While we’re finding a fix for the second issue (some blog posts look fantastic if they have a bit longer heading so we’re trying to keep that), there really is no solution to Flickr returning better images. Unfortunately people often add all kind of tags to their photos so there’s little we can do about that. One solution would be to have only YouTube videos since the relevancy there is very good. This would be optional – let us know if you’d like to see something like that.

WP Postly Issues

  • “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-postly-plugin_1.0.3/views/log.php on line 76”

The third one happens because your hosting is running a very old version of PHP (more than 3 years). You should check with your hosting about updating PHP.

These are currently the issues we found but if you find anything else, let us know and we’ll do our best to resolve them ASAP.

No more minor versions with Big Content Search

Some might think that the work has stopped on Big Content Search since the last version information was in June. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth! We’re actually doing daily updates and bug fixes, we’ve just changed our philosophy to Continuous delivery.

So most changes and bug fixes are now done within a few days or even in less than 24 hours.

We still have a lot of work to do in the current major version (3) and we’re already planning for Big Content Search 4.0. Stay tuned!

Launch 3.0 Information

There are two things to keep in mind with the launch of Big Content Search 3.0.

eBooks Database

We’ll be adding new eBooks on a daily basis this week and the next. Because of the size of files this has to be done manually so it’s taking a bit more time. We expect to have 1000 eBooks till the end of the week and a few hundred more till the end of next week.

We’re also checking and tweaking the search to see how it’s working with eBooks. And we want to hear your feedback so let us know!

We’re also buying new PLR eBooks as we speak so don’t forget to check the requests in your members area and vote for topics!

Business Edition Course

This was not meant as a course which you’d forget about in a day. While most of the course is written, we still have some things we’d like to make clearer and better. We’ll also be adding new topics till the end of next week and make some other additions (more images etc.).

We value your feedback, so let us know where you need more info and we’ll provide you with it!

Big Content Search 3.1 Live

We’ve just finished the upgrade to 3.1.

Major changes from 3.0

  • Added hundreds of requested articles,
  • WordAI integration,
  • Unique Content Generator integration,
  • moved blog to blog.bigcontentsearch.com,
  • other system fixes and updates.

What’s Coming

I’m thrilled to announce that the next version will include searching through eBooks. We’ll also redesign how users login so there won’t be any more problems with people using different contact and PayPal emails.

Downtime planned for 3rd March

On Sunday, March 3rd we’re planning a longer downtime due to a major upgrade of Big Content Search to 3.0.

Downtime on 2013/03/03
– Timezone: GMT, 8:00 to 20:00 (Europe)
– Timezone: EST, 3:00 to 15:00 (New York)
– Timezone: PST, 24:00 to 12:00 (Los Angeles)

While this upgrade will not bring any major changes for you immediately, it’s the foundation for two great features coming in the next few months:

  • eBook search,
  • eBook creation from articles in download cart.

We’re very excited about this since it’s going to be the largest update since our launch in 2010!

You can also supply us with links to PLR eBooks you’d like to see in our database by contacting us.

Big Content Search 2.8 Live

We’ve just updated Big Content Search to version 2.8.

Major changes from 2.7

  • more than 25,000 new articles (now total 127,000+),
  • system fixes and updates.

What’s Coming

We still have a few articles to import, mostly written from members’ requests. The next four milestones in the next 2-3 months will bring some major changes in features so stay tuned!
